Wish Formula Squish-and-Bubble Mesh Pad — $7
Maybe it's because I walk around New York City's hot, grimy, dusty, gross air every day, but damn does my skin's natural texture feel like the underbelly of an alligator. Before you ask, yes, I wash and moisturize my face every day, and yes, I've tried exfoliators. The problem with scrubs — even the gentle kinds with teeny tiny grains of natural exfoliants — is that my face doesn't feel smooth and baby butt-like afterwards; instead, it feels stripped and dry.
So one day, I was told about this new exfoliator with a very cute and very unintimidating name: Squish-and-Bubble. "Sure," I thought to myself, "why wouldn't I try something that sounded like a tertiary character in Finding Dory?" It comes in a plastic package, much like a sheet mask. The mesh wrapped spongey puff is pre-soaked with vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and a few other ingredients meant to exfoliate and brighten skin. Because the puff is wrapped in a very gentle mesh, it gingerly sloughs away dead skin as you rub it on your face. So yes, for about 60 seconds, I made love to my face with this puff, and you'd be dead wrong if you thought I wasn't happy about it.
Once I was done, my face felt like, honestly, not my face. It felt a lot like my one-year-old niece's face, completely new and not at all aware of how disgusting summer in New York can be. I put on my regular moisturizer and went about my Saturday. And even now, as I write this on a Tuesday, my face remains to feel good — maybe even better than good — as new. —Augusta Falletta
