Bumble and bumble Surf Spray, $27
I'll be honest with you: my hair does not like products. It's both fine and heavy, which is part of the reason I wear it so short, and it has yet to hold a curl or a braid or anything without the help of some intense wax/hairspray/bobby pin architecture. Casually curling it in the morning is not in the cards for me.
However, now that I'm trying to grow out my side shave, I've been trying some products to get it to look intentionally messy instead of just messy — and Bumble & bumble Sea Salt Spray is easily the best thing I've tried out of many, many things. It's lightweight and doesn't feel sticky on my hair, and gives a nice tousle and volume that works for me deep in my pop-punk soul. It's a subtle difference, but an important one. Also it smells really nice (imo), like the seashore. 10/10 would recommend to anybody who wants a nice gentle ~beachy wave.~ —Kaye Toal

GLOV Makeup Remover, $12.99
Finding a makeup remover that I actually want to use is at night on my list of Things I Wish Would Happen Before I Die Even Though I Won't Get My Hopes Up Too Much. I've written before about my hatred for the necessity of makeup removers and my quest to find one that doesn't make me cringe. BUT I recently discovered the GLOV Makeup Remover towel and I'm not being dramatic when I say it's changed my life.
Here's how it works: This cute lil' mitten is made with microfibers that act as magnets for all of the dirt, grime, makeup, etc. on your face at the end of the day. You run it under water until it's damp, then you gently rub your face until all of the makeup — EVEN MASCARA — is gone, which, for me, winds up being about the length of time Snapchat allows you to take video. After that, you rub the GLOV against a bar of soap and rinse it under water and all of the makeup comes off and it looks good as new. WHATTTT? Added bonus: Because of the texture, it also winds up exfoliating your face and the makers don't even recommend using a cleanser. I'll take ten!
Besides being freakishly effective at removing all of the crap that has accumulated on my face after a 14-hour day in Manhattan, this little thingamajig means that I don't have to use face wipes or cleanser or cotton pads or anything else that can add up. I am a cheap bastard and even I can shell out $13 every three months when the GLOV needs to be replaced.
